In partnership with the Ohio Department of Development, the Fisher College of Business International Programs Office/CIBER is proud to offer the Export Internship Program, which pairs small and medium-sized Ohio companies with undergraduate students. The program combines a Spring Semester export-focused course with a paid summer internship focusing on international trade. Students serve as interns within the companies, working on customized, export-related projects. Assignments could include creating a strategic plan for expanding export activities, identifying new export markets, or linking companies to various export assistance organizations. AcademicsThe Export Internship Program features a 3 credit hour Spring Semester course taught by experts in the field of international business, where they gain specialized export instruction on topics such as global market analysis, the identification of export partners, international pricing, logistics, and distribution. The Export Internship Class will be on Fridays during Spring Semester. InternshipsThe International Programs Office and Ohio Department of Development will pair each student in the program with a paid internship at an Ohio business. The summer internships will run from May 13-August 9, 2013, with a one week break from July 1-5. During the internship portion of the program, participants are required to participate in biweekly collaborative meetings with their classmates and will have access to resources provided by the state and federal government, as well as Ohio State. Internships can be in any sector or industry and will focus specifically on international trade efforts. Past companies include Fecon, Daavlin Phototherapy Products, Milliron Auto Parts, Jeni's Splended Ice Creams, Sutphen Fire Trucks, and Rain Drop Products. Student Selection CriteriaThe Export Internship Program is open to Fisher College of Business students only. The program is selective and limited to 30 participants. Students are required to submit a resume and letter of reference from an OSU faculty member as part of their application to the program. Participants will be interviewed by the course instructor prior to admittance to the program.
