Fisher Exchange Travel Grants

The Fisher College of Business Office of Global Business offers Exchange Scholarships to students who participate in Fisher College of Business and/or Ohio State University endorsed Study Abroad Programs. Scholarships will be funded through the college’s CIBER (Center for International Business Education & Research) or through gift funds from one or more private donors.

Strong priority will be placed on supporting business students attending programs at Fisher College of Business semester exchange partner institutions.

Scholarship Award Criteria

Exchange Scholarships will be awarded in the range of $500 to $1,000. Exchange Scholarships are awarded based on successful submission of a video promoting Student Exchange and acceptance into an endorsed Fisher College of Business exchange program.

Business students accepted into other Ohio State University study abroad programs may apply for these scholarships; however strong priority will be placed on supporting business students attending programs at partner institutions of Fisher College of Business.

In countries under a current Department of State Travel Warning, undergraduate students cannot use scholarship awards for study abroad programs and/or individual international projects outside of venues approved by Ohio State. Graduate and professional students may petition the Study Abroad Health and Safety Committee for approval a minimum of three months prior to proposed travel. For further information, please contact Grace Johnson (Johnson.136) at the Office of International Affairs.

Scholarship Application Process

Videos must be submitted via e-mail to Kozue Isozaki (isozaki.1@osu.edu) with a link to the video on YouTube. Students may work in teams or as individuals in producing their videos. The e-mail message should include, the full name (or names) of the student(s), the Study Abroad Program for which the student(s) are accepted, and name.#@osu.edu of the person (or people) submitting the video.

In the case of a team submission, the amount awarded will be based per person, not per video. For example, if a 3 person team submits a video and is selected, each participant will receive a scholarship in the amount of $500-$1000. No more than 3 people per video submission is permitted. Amount of grants will be determined by the following criteria; creativity, quality of video (high definition, quality content, etc.), and ability to inspire students to participate in International Student Exchange at the Fisher College of Business (this includes if the video content is appropriate for academic marketing/ i.e.: Alcohol related content will not be academically appropriate).

In submitting your video for the Exchange Scholarship, you give the Fisher College of Business sole rights over its use and distribution. We intend to use these videos on the internet and in advertisements for future marketing of our programs. Videos should be 3 minutes and 30 seconds or less in duration and should focus on Fisher International Student Exchange Programs. PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT USE MUSIC OR PHOTOS THAT ARE COPYRIGHT PROTECTED. IF COPYRIGHT ITEMS ARE FOUND IN YOUR SUBMISSION, YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE REJECTED.

Please submit completed materials to the Office of Global Business by 5:00 p.m., April 15th, 2013. Notification of awards will be announced by CIBER no later than June 21st, 2013.

Scholarship Disbursement

Once a student has been selected as a recipient of one of the scholarships, the Office of Global Business will contact the student explaining the next steps in the process. In most cases, the funds will be directly applied to your OSU Account.

Upon receiving this award, you will be required to submit a testimonial and five photos of your experiences abroad, after your return to the US. You will also be asked to help promote study abroad to future students.
