The Fisher College of Business International Programs Office/CIBER
"The speed of business and globalization is increasing. International experiences will only increase your value proposition and job satisfaction throughout your career. You are the CEO of your career, and only with the support of your network will you be able to reach the goals to which you aspire." - Jamey Halsey, Partner at Deloitte & Touche LLP
Fisher College of Business is home to one of 33 Centers of International Business Education and Research (CIBER) which are funded through the U.S. Department of Education. Each CIBER's purpose is to provide programming to link the manpower and technological needs of the U.S. business community with the international education, language training, and research capacities of universities across the country. Learn more about the CIBER grant. Our students come from all over the world, and it's not unusual to find classes that have a mix of 30 percent international and 70 percent domestic students. Many of our faculty also have global experience and come from countries such as Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, England, Germany, India, Israel, Switzerland, and Turkey. You can be certain that teaching and learning go beyond domestic borders. In addition to the regular curriculum, there are a number of electives offered with a global business focus. Not surprisingly, our alumni network is worldwide, and alumni successfully work and live in over 80 countries around the globe. Offering A Wide Portfolio Of Global OpportunitiesFisher’s International Programs Office creates and maintains a wide variety of programs for students and faculty as well as members of the business community. Some of these programs include the college’s popular Emerging Markets Field Study elective, Summer Internship Programs, and assistance to students who are considering a global exchange semester. Students can choose from a variety of options where they may explore classroom theories at work in an exciting international location. The International Programs Office also offers the popular Distinguished International Speaker Series (DISS), which brings global executives to campus where they discuss strategies for operating successfully beyond borders. The CIBER facilitates seminars that provide professionals with tools to become more successful within the global marketplace; provides access to a wide range of language programs; and regularly organizes case challenges that simulate the global business environment in a competitive context. Key Leaders Backing Us Up: CIBER Advisory CouncilThe Fisher College CIBER Advisory Council provides advice and counsel, as well as critical feedback and evaluation, about all CIBER activities. The CIBER Advisory Council meets formally once each year, but each member of the Council normally participates in a variety of activities during the year sponsored by the CIBER or offered in other departments throughout the college. |
