Leadership and Professional Development (LPD)
Fisher was among the very first MBA programs to launch an outside-the-classroom Leadership & Professional Development (LPD) Program. Our program is led by a faculty team with decades of experience in leadership coaching and development in the corporate sector.
We recognize that successful business professionals require strong values, leadership capabilities, teamwork skills, and powerful communication abilities. In addition, today’s team-based business practices demand that leaders be able to collaborate and work collectively toward common goals.
Leadership Excellence ranked Fisher's MBA Leadership and Development program 18th in the universities category! Educational institutions ranked in this category have a "clear agenda and process for developing leadership," according to Ken Shelton, co-founder of Leadership Excellence.
Putting the "i" in Team
Successful teams are comprised of individuals who understand themselves and how to maximize their contribution. The objective of our LPD program is to help you hone your individual capabilities and to provide a foundation that allows for continued growth throughout your career.
Our curriculum includes assessments, custom workshops, experiential learning activities and world-class speakers. After completing LPD, you will have successfully started on your journey to becoming a confident leader who is able to motivate and inspire those around them.
Fisher's intensive two-week immersion in to the core leadership, academic and professional foundations of the MBA program will prepare you for the MBA experience and act as a platform to introduce you to your core team. Participation is required.
Professional development at Fisher involves understanding yourself by evaluating your personal characteristics, identifying and utilizing your strengths as a manager, and honing your skills as a future leader.
Powerful Communication Skills
Strong and effective leadership and team-based success are built on the ability to communicate effectively, powerfully, and prolifically. Our communication core will prepare you to be an effective communicator in the workplace.
Ethics and Social Responsibility
Integrity and a commitment to social responsibility are attributes that guide decisions and make or break leaders. Understanding and exploring what this means to you and how you may react when faced with difficult circumstances will help define your success.
Fisher consistently provides you with a plenitude of opportunities to interact with local, national and global leaders through our speaker series. From formal speaking presentations to intimate executive lunches, you can take advantage of the enthusiastic business leaders who visit campus to share their insights and expertise with you.
We recognize that some of the best teachers to help provide guidance and expertise are corporate mentors. Students are offered the opportunity to interact and learn from business leaders, receiving practical guidance and expertise, as they navigate through industries, career choices, and business culture in general.
MBA Team Coach Program
Effective group coaches evoke excellence in others, guiding the group to accomplish more than individuals could achieve by working separately. The program provides second-year, full-time MBA students the opportunity to practice, enhance, and apply effective management skills through an active learning experience as a Team Coach to a first-year MBA core team.
We're creating new depths of experiences for our students through partnerships with corporations, non-profit organizations, Ohio State University, and our global alumni - offering study abroad, case and business plan competitions, field courses, certificates, and leadership opportunities.
