Geoffrey Kistruck Social entrepreneurship in emerging markets
Professor Geoffrey Kistruck’s international focus for his research work explores methods social entrepreneurs can utilize to help link people in Africa, Asia and Latin America with more development markets. In the classroom, Kistruck teaches the core Global Environment of Business course to provide students an understanding of the many factors shaping the global business environment.
Prior to joining Fisher, Kistruck spent more than six years in various investment banking and consulting roles, including most recently as vice president of mergers and acquisitions of a publicly traded marketing-services company.

Teaching
Professor Kistruck’s Global Environment of Business course is required for all MBA students. Students receive with a comprehensive understanding of the political, economic, social and technological forces shaping today’s global business environment. The course explores how multinational corporations and domestic business can navigate the dynamics of the global market place. Throughout the course, students develop skills for mitigating or exploiting the resulting risks and opportunities that are presented in their careers.
Research Professor Kistruck’s research is focused on market-based solutions to poverty alleviation. He is currently investigating ways social entrepreneurs can help link individuals residing in poor base-of-the-pyramid markets with more developed markets. Most of his research projects involve examining development projects in regions throughout Africa, Asia, and Latin America to better understand the challenges of starting and operating businesses in such environments, and attempting to uncover strategies and tactics that social entrepreneurs can use to overcome such challenges.

What books are you reading right now? Fred and Ted’s Road Trip - I have two boys, ages 4 and 7.
What do you enjoy most about working at Fisher? I’d have to say my colleagues. Fisher is lucky to have a faculty body that is not only intellectually skilled but are also incredibly warm and sincere in their approach to teaching, researching, and collaborating with other professors.
What is your place to go in Columbus? The Short North the first Saturday of every month – it’s gallery hop night with plenty of good food, good drink, and a buzzing crowd.
What is your favorite travel destination? A tie between Thailand and Tanzania – it depends if you’re talking about business or pleasure.

Oded Shenkar International business
Originally from Israel, Professor Oded Shenkar has been with Fisher for more than a decade. As a faculty member in our Management and Human Resources Department, Professor Shenkar holds the Ford Motor Company Chair in Global Business Management.
His latest book Copycats: How Smart Companies Use Imitation to Gain a Strategic Edge raises an important question on whether legal forms of imitation (not infringements of intellectual property)—long maligned in the West and embraced in the East—have a place in business practice.

Teaching Students say they gravitate to Dr. Shenkar's exceptional ability to share cutting-edge research on international market dynamics in a hands-on and lively fashion. In addition to teaching, research, and publication, Professor Shenkar advises multinational firms, national and state governments, and international organizations.
Research Professor Shenkar's general research focus is international business, but he has particular insights into Chinese business and foreign direct investments. In addition to authoring books, Shenkar is also the editor of several books, most recently the Handbook for International Management Research and the Handbook of Strategic Alliances. Top journal publications have rated Dr. Shenkar first among Chinese management scholars and one of the top scholars globally in international strategy.
