Ohio State Business Plan Competition

The exciting Ohio State Business Plan Competition is open to Ohio State and the community at large. Teams consisting of at least one Ohio State student or alumni interested in creating a new business will prepare through preliminary activities, including workshops taught by executives from nationally known companies.

Workshop topics may include learning how to develop and write a business plan, creating a new venture management team, evaluating the market potential of new technologies, making financial projections and studying legal issues in new venture creation.

A launching pad for new ventures

In 2011, winning teams shared in more than $130,000 in cash and in-kind services to use as start-up funds to transform an idea into a viable business.

Past winners of the competition have included Vertebration, which went on to win the 2004 FORTUNE Small Business National Business Plan Competition, as well as Minimally Invasive Devices, who was a finalist in the 2006 FORTUNE Small Business competition.
