How to become a Real Estate Agent?

The Center for Real Estate Education and Research offers the four real estate sales courses which are required to become licensed real estate agents in Ohio.

Required Courses and Descriptions

  • BF670 Real Estate and Urban Land Economics UG4 (Principles and Practices of Real Estate)
    Introduction to urban land economics and real estate markets; topics include land use, property taxation, income taxation, and property rights.
    Prerequisites: Econ 200 and 201, or equivalent or permission of instructor. Offered Su and Wi Qtrs. M/W 5:30-7:18 PM

    Note: Choose one of 773 and 774
  • BF773 Real Estate Valuation UG4 (Appraisal)*
    Professional valuation as a guide to business decisions; valuation theory and procedures; factors influencing real estate values, and the selection and analysis of data.
    Prerequisites: Econ 200 or equivalent or permission of instructor. Offered Au Qtr, M/W 6:00-7:48 PM
  • BF774 Income Property Valuation UG4 (Appraisal)
    The value-creating attributes of investment properties; methodologies of income-property valuation and investment analysis.
    Prerequisites: Econ 200 or equivalent or permission of instructor. Offered Sp Qtr, M 6:00-8:48 PM

  • BF775 Real Estate Law UG4
    Legal aspects of real estate transactions and documents (deeds, mortgages, and leases) and selected elements of the law of real estate brokerage.
    Prerequisites: BF 510 or equivalent or permission of instructor. Offered Wi Qtr, M/W 3:30-5:18 PM
