Members of the department have received numerous teaching awards and have
innovated with experiential learning with courses like the Student Investment Management Program
which manages over $9 million in University funds and offers trips for students to major financial centers. Research is another important focus of the department. Ohio State
was the home to the Journal of Finance for twelve years, an outlet for high impact research in finance. Research is supported by an active group of Ph.D. students, a weekly research seminar and the
Charles A. Dice Center for Financial Economics.
The department has been consistently highly ranked in national surveys.
According to a recent survey by Chan, Lung, and
Wolfe,
“Research Ranking of Finance Departments: A Modified Citation Approach,”
January 2005, the finance department at Fisher is ranked #8 worldwide for
citations in leading finance journals.
