My Path to the Fisher EMBA

After 15 years in the fashion industry building products, brands and businesses, I wanted to broaden my perspective and gain a better understanding of corporate level strategy and operations. The Fisher EMBA program was an opportunity to further develop my business and leadership skills and gain exposure to areas of expertise outside of my own.

Commute and Schedule

The commute from New York is very easy. I leave my office in midtown Manhattan and short hours later— after a brief stop at the Delta Sky Club in LaGuardia and a short hour and 10-minute flight—I am settled in Columbus. Each day on campus begins with breakfast alongside your classmates before a full day of classes. The day ends with either a speaker or social event, dinner and then more conversation on the day’s topics at the Blackwell. The skills you develop from this program are enhanced by the close bonds and shared experiences with your team and other classmates.

Program Insights

The level of peer interaction both inside and outside the classroom was one of the unexpected strengths of the program for me. The international trip was a great opportunity for those who had limited international exposure to experience new cultures and for those of us who have travelled abroad more extensively to share our knowledge and see everything again through fresh eyes. Some people were able to take additional time and add a personal leg to the international trip. I was able to go early and spent three incredible days exploring Tibet with a guide before meeting the class in Beijing.

The Fisher Choice

The decision to choose the Fisher EMBA program was easy for me. Living in New York City and self funding, the once-per-month schedule and clear value proposition made this top-ranked program very attractive. I liked the idea of leaving the city and going to Columbus for an immersive educational experience with peers from a variety of backgrounds. I found the Midwestern culture and sense of community among the faculty, students and alumni at Ohio State very welcoming. The Ohio State Buckeye family is large and passionate. I have built friendships and developed a network of contacts I will have for the rest of my life.
