Faculty
The success of Fisher College programs rests on the strength of its faculty. The Executive MBA courses are taught by experienced faculty who are accomplished educators, researchers and consultants.
Their knowledge of business management principles, understanding of current business issues and ability to apply that knowledge in the classroom create a stimulating and challenging educational experience.
In addition to being benefactors of expert research and knowledge, Fisher faculty are accessible to students and often engage in discussion and collaboration with them outside of the classroom.
In recent years, U.S. News & World Report and other surveys have placed Fisher accounting, finance, operations/production and real estate programs among the top ten in the nation.

J. Richard (Dick) Dietrich PhD, Carnegie Mellon University Professor of Accounting and MIS
Learn More about Dick Dietrich
Dick Dietrich specializes in financial reporting and the relationship between accounting disclosures and investor decisions. Previously, he was academic fellow at the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of the Chief Accountant, Deloitte & Touche Professor, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Peat Marwick Faculty Fellow, University of Texas at Austin.
What Professor Dietrich is reading
While some might view these as related to business, in my opinion they all are pure fun and therefore pleasure reading: “The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers” by Paul Kennedy is a great read. It’s categorized as history/political science, but it is really commerce and economics and world power. In addition, I enjoy Warren Buffet’s letter to shareholders in any Berkshire Hathaway annual report and “Final Report of Michael J. Missal, Bankruptcy Court Examiner, in re: New Century TRS Holdings, Inc.” A gripping story of sub-prime lending as seen by the bankruptcy court examiner!

Leslie Fine PhD, University of Tennessee Associate Professor of Marketing
Learn More about Leslie Fine
Leslie M. Fine teaches the core marketing class in the EMBA program. Her research interests are the areas of buyer-seller relationships, sales force management, and sales performance. She is active in Fisher’s outreach to nonprofit organizations in an attempt to bring a strategic management perspective to social enterprise institutions.
What Professor Fine enjoys during downtime
When I’m not teaching EMBAs or otherwise occupied with work, I am probably involved with food. I like to cook, I like to eat, and I am very interested in food as a medium for social and cultural exchange. When I travel, for instance, not only do I like to find the back-street places where the locals eat, but I love to peruse supermarkets and convenience stores and produce markets. I am fascinated with the phenomenon of the “celebrity chef,” and the role of electronic media in creating and supporting that celebrity status.
What book is Professor Fine currently reading for fun?
Freedom by Jonathan Franzen. He develops characters very intricately and really puts the reader into the minds of the characters.
What is Professor Fine's favorite travel destination and why?
Portugal is a beautiful, friendly and easily accessible part of Europe. From Lisbon you can travel to many lovely towns along the coast, or you can stay in Lisbon and enjoy the café culture, the historic cathedrals, the Moorish architecture and a sprawling castle right in the middle of town. The food there is delicious, as seafood is fresh and plentiful. The wine is great, too!
What is a must see place?
Sintra, about 40 minutes from Lisbon, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sintra has two of the most intriguing gardens I’ve ever seen.
What is Professor Fine's favorite pastime?
I cook because I love to eat, and it’s a great way for me to relieve stress. Plus, something bubbling on the stove or roasting in the oven makes the house smell divine!

My vacation house in New Hampshire. Its a great place to ‘chill out’ and get separated from all the day-to-day email, voicemail, memos, reports, grading, class preparation, etc. After 3-4 days of solitude there, I am ready to face civilization again.
What is a must see place?
Istanbul (and much of Western Turkey). At the crossroads of several major cultural and religious traditions and thousands of years of history, it brings together the European and Asian traditions and cultures, and has served as the capital of the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, Latin Empire and the Ottoman Empire.
