The LHR doctoral program builds on the tradition of excellence in scholarship within the Fisher College of Business while recognizing the changing academic environment. The program takes advantage of the strength of the HR faculty at Ohio State, a faculty committed to excellence in both research and teaching and who spend many hours mentoring and working one-on-one with doctoral students. The program strives to produce students who can effectively compete for positions at top-tier academic institutions. The Ph.D. program, which is a full-time commitment, provides students with the methodological tools and the current knowledge base to initiate and sustain a research program. World-class facilities and resources enhance the doctoral experience. The Fisher College strategically manages the size of its Ph.D. program to ensure program quality, individualized attention from faculty, and the successful placement of graduates. A small cohort of students is admitted to the LHR doctoral program every other year (applications are reviewed in odd years - 2001, 2003, etc.). Students are admitted to a separate Ph.D. in Business Administration program, focusing on Strategic Management and International Business, in alternate years.
Masters in Labor and Human Resources (MLHR). The Masters in Labor and Human Resources (MLHR) degree program has been preparing students for challenging opportunities in human resources for more than 20 years. The MLHR program has earned national recognition for excellence, having been consistently ranked among the top 10 graduate labor and human resource programs in the nation. The vision for the MLHR program is to become the foremost program in educating and developing individuals with the analytical and process skills, as well as the functional content knowledge, needed to be effective internal human resource consultants and organizational policy makers who increase the effectiveness of their organizations. The curriculum has recently been updated to hone critical skill sets including an understanding of the business context, functional HR expertise, and leadership and change management. The new curriculum, the addition of new HR faculty, and new state-of-the-art facilities have the MLHR program positioned to graduate students able to meet the current and future needs of employers and the challenges of an every changing, global business environment.
Master of Business Administration (MBA). The Fisher College MBA program offers small class sizes, a world class faculty, and a curriculum designed to deliver a high return on student's investment in the program. The result is a top-ranked MBA program that prepares today's and tomorrow's business leaders for challenging, exciting, and rewarding careers in business. Students in the full-time MBA program can minor in Human Resources Management. Relative to the MLHR program, an MBA with a Human Resources minor offers a broader exposure to business concepts at the expense of a more in-depth coverage of Human Resources. Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA). The quality and reputation of Ohio State's BSBA program is among the best in the nation. The BSBA program assists students in understanding and developing the unique leadership qualities required by an environment where change and innovation are commonplace. Students in the BSBA program can choose Human Resources as their area of specialization. This major provides students with a series of specialized courses in human resources and is designed to prepare students for either employment or graduate study in human resources. Related Information Department of Management and Human Resources. The Department of Management and Human Resources (MHR) is one of five academic departments within the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. The MHR department provides administrative support and academic guidance for over 25 faculty members and the various Human Resources related academic programs highlighted above. The Department’s administration is responsible for functions such as curriculum development and maintenance, course scheduling and course funding.
