BA 799H- Strategy Formulation and Implementation
This course is about the creation and maintenance of a long term vision for the organization. It is concerned with both the determination of the strategic direction of the firm and the management of the strategic process. The course builds on your prior studies of functional areas while recognizing that most real business problems are inherently multi-functional in nature. Thus, this course employs an explicitly integrative approach in which we endeavor to explore and reconcile the tensions that accompany management decisions. In doing so, we will adopt the role of the general manager who has the responsibility for the long-term health of the entire organization (or a sub-unit within the organization).
MBA 812- Managerial Economics
This course approaches microeconomics from a management and organizational perspective. The objective is to develop a framework grounded in the fundamentals of economic theory.
MHR 894-Applied Competitive Strategy
The main course focus is on the international operations business simulation INTOPIA and your company’s operations in it. Each company must be well prepared to make and execute decisions each week as indicated by the schedule. The flavor of the simulation and of the course as a whole is distinctly entrepreneurial. You will be a member of a 4 person team who comprises one of the companies in the INTOPIAN world. You and your teammates will be responsible for all aspects of your company’s operations.
