My sister works for this company. We'll keep it anonymous because I don't want her to get in trouble. She graduated from Ohio State in 2008 with a bachelor's degree, several certifications under her belt and ready to hit the working world. She found this amazing job - or what she thought - and was promised that a year of working 3rd shift meant she could develop quality assurance standards for the company, move off of 3rd shift, and have a really really nice job for her field of study and her limited experience.
This Thursday, I had a very good presentation in MHR 863.
We have 10 teams to present the marketing for an HR initiative. My team was trying to market a program named Suggestion Award System (SAS), which is a system used to select and implement the good suggestions that raised by employers and employees.
Today, I participated in the 54th Columbus International Festival with my awesome English conversation partner.
We took I315 to downtown and then we were so excited that the festival was so amazing. Not only can we enjoy the different food from different countries, but also we meet different foreigners, see the beautiful art-crafts and learn the different cultures.
As time flies, I have been here for more than two months. I find that I am loving the life here gradually. OSU, Columbus, both have been an undivided part from my life. People here are really nice to foreigners, they give us an friendly and warm environment to adapt our lives in such a totally different environment.
Once again, this week has had its ups and downs. I got one of my midterms back and it did not go so well. That night I stayed up until 4:00 AM studying the material and trying to figure where I went wrong. The 3 hours of sleep I got made me way less functional the next day than I would have liked, but luckily that night in class we had two very interesting speakers. One was from General Mills and she did a presentation about how to use influence techniques to be a better leader. This is definitely a subject I find extremely interesting and I hope to start practicing the techniques. Th
