It has been about a week since we started working on our consulting project at Commercial Vehicle Group (CVG) Northampton. CVG Northampton has the corporate office, manufacturing unit and the warehouse clubbed into one massive building in a quiet neighborhood called "Round Spinney". The facilities are great, and the people here are the best!
I am writing this blog at 11:18pm on our last night before the big presentation! After a hectic fourteen hour work day with a fried brain, this blog is a vent to my feelings at this point. It has been a great learning experience for these three weeks and all of us have enjoyed our time here.
The weekend of May 22 was an unforgettable one; four of us had already made plans to visit Scotland and were excited about the trip. Everyone we talked to about Edinburgh said that it would be a beautiful experience, but we weren’t really sure what to expect. It turned out to be a unique, unforgettable, and authentic adventure for all of us. There is so much history in every corner of the city and we will always remember the Edinburgh old town skyline and castle, Lindisfarne castle and Arthur’s seat.
Every thing that we have done for the last ten weeks has led up to this point: the presentation of our findings to the C-suite! While the senior management of Commercial Vehicle Group has been extremely helpful and supportive of our project up to now, we could not help but feel a little tense going into the final presentation. Coordinating among the two teams (UK and Shanghai) proved to be a challenge as the internet bandwidth at the UK office did not allow a screen-sharing lync meeting. We had to make last minute changes to our plans to incorporate this inconvenience.
As the end of our second semester came to a close in early May, I felt run down and, at the time, the initial GAP excitement had faded. I wasn’t particularly psyched for the trip, but felt that I could use a break before my internship to relax and recharge.
