Bernadine Silberman
has been sculpting professionally for 23 years. She has studied
sculpture privately and attended classes at the Cleveland Institute
of Art. Silberman is a stone carver who prefers marble and alabaster
stones. She also casts sculpture in bronze and stainless steel.
Her sculpture has received numerous awards, including the Art International
and NOVA Sculpture Invitational. Two large-scale works are on view
in Columbus, at Linclay Corporation and Columbus City Center. Her
work also is included in the collections of the Ohio State Capitol
Building, Goodyear Tire & Rubber in Akron, and King Khalid in Saudi
Arabia, among others.

I
try to collaborate with the stone, striving to achieve the ideal
form. The shapes are suggestive, challenging the viewer to become
involved. I seldom start with a firm idea; that would be too restrictive.
I let the stone spur my creativity, drawing from the form as it
takes shape in my hands.
