Providing Growth

Supply chain and logistics management programs experienced stellar growth last year, doubling the number of programs offered in 2001. Doug Lambert, Raymond E. Mason Chair in Transportation and Logistics, increased programming for the U.S. Army’s logistics and supply chain management program, created a new relationship with Coca-Cola and provided overall leadership for Maersk programs. Other marketing and logistics faculty critical to the support and instruction of these programs included Professors Keely Croxton and Michael Knemeyer.

Building Partnerships

Creating top executive education programs requires both academic expertise and knowledge of business applications and solutions. Last year, Finance Chair Anil Makhija, Management Science Chair Peter Ward (left) and Marketing and Logistics Professors Lee Mathews and Neeli Bendapudi presented Fisher College’s capabilities to Textron executives who selected Fisher’s program over those presented by seven other highly ranked business schools. As a result of executive interviews and various operational site visits, a deep partnership with the entire college has developed through executive education faculty. The outcome includes new Textron recruiting activities, greater interaction between students and executives and the potential for future faculty consulting projects.

Creating Community

Giving back to the community is a leadership philosophy demonstrated at all levels throughout the college. Recently, Fisher College faculty volunteered their expertise in designing a leadership program for principals in the Columbus Public Schools system. The first steps were carried out last fall under the direction of Jay Barney, Bank One Chair for Excellence in Global Strategy. Management and Human Resource Professors Roy Lewicki, Jay Dial and Rob Heneman as well as Finance Chair Anil Makhija contributed to a needs assessment and curriculum design.
