Celebrating Diversity

One example of Fisher’s supportive and diverse environment is reflected in its colorful celebrations. Karen Hopper Wruck (left in large photo), MBA associate dean, and Neeli M. Bendapudi (right), associate professor of marketing, participate with students during Utsav, a cultural event organized by the Fisher Indian student community.

Giving Back

Through FisherServes, an MBA student-led community organization, students experienced corporate responsibility as they created and implemented the spring Fisher 5K, a fund-raiser that benefited Children’s Hunger Alliance, an Ohio charity dedicated to fighting childhood hunger.

Exchanging Opportunities

MBA students now have more exchange opportunities to pursue due to the addition of three new international business school partners to the college’s exchange portfolio: The Grenoble University Graduate School of Business in Grenoble, France; Technológico de Monterrey’s EGADE in Monterrey, Mexico; and the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Fisher graduate students can now study at 20 universities around the world.

Developing Partnerships

When graduate Jeff Fivecoat (right, MBA ’03) wanted to launch his new company, Forescore Golf, he turned to his alma mater to help him transform his idea into reality. Fisher’s Center for Entrepreneurship teamed with consulting firm Accenture on Ideas to Business, a program that helps budding entrepreneurs take their ideas to the next level through online and consulting resources. Fivecoat received marketing and financial expertise through student consultants such as Yoon Kim (center, MBA ’05), who, upon graduation, was hired by his company.

Accenture’s managing partner, John Hrusovsky (left) believes this outreach program is one way for students to gain hands-on experience while strengthening the small business community. In support, Accenture has committed $300,000 in cash and in-kind services.
