Leadership involves giving back, both in business and life. Last spring, Fisher students were among the volunteers who raised the walls of the first-ever Habitat for Humanity home built entirely on campus. The house, now home to a Columbus family in need, was moved to land donated by an Ohio State graduate.
Fisher students were among those who participated in Fisher Pride Week, hosted by the Undergraduate Business Student Forum. The spring event featured student-alumni networking activities, campus leadership opportunities and executive business insights by Nationwide CEO Jerry Jurgensen (left).
Fisher accounting students learned firsthand how the post-Enron legislation, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, raised the standards for corporate accountability from the experts who were instrumental in the bill’s passage and implementation: Ohio Representative Mike Oxley, chair of the House Committee on Financial Services, and Bill Gradison (pictured), member of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.
As part of People magazine’s marketing internship program, undergraduate honor students developed a marketing plan to promote the magazine to Ohio State students. Fisher was one of five schools that competed for the opportunity to present their campaign and results to magazine executives in New York City.
