MAcc Program

The Fisher Master of Accounting Program enrolled its first class last year, with sixteen students graduating so far. The program enables accounting professionals to broaden their understanding of the role of accounting in today’s businesses and to meet Ohio’s new CPA licensing requirements. This 45 credit hour graduate degree program offers specialization “tracks” in accounting and controllership, financial analysis or information systems management, and provides students the option of developing their own course of study.

PhD Program

Career placements. Recent Fisher PhD placements include career positions at Penn State University, the University of Colorado,
University of Western Ontario, Notre Dame University and Putnam Investments.

Top researchers. Three graduates of Fisher College’s PhD program in finance in the past ten years are among the top 20 researchers in terms of productivity at Asian-Pacific universities, according to a study published in the June 2001 edition of the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal. The article ranks finance research productivity among Asian-Pacific universities and also cites the 20 most productive individual finance researchers. Included are Kalok Chan (’90), listed first in terms of productivity, currently at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; Bong-Chan Kho (’94), 17th, at Seoul National University; and Kee-Hong Bae (’93), 19th, at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

PhD program “rightsized”

In 1997, Fisher’s doctoral programs were decreased in size to focus on high quality faculty mentoring. Fisher PhD graduates are offered positions at prestigious universities throughout the world. For example, Henock Louis, PhD 2001, accounting and MIS, is joining the faculty of The Pennsylvania State University this fall.
