The first-ever Procter
& Gamble Leadership Advantage Camp was held at the Fisher
College in January. John Pepper, chairman of the executive committee
of the board of Procter & Gamble, gave the opening remarks
and spoke individually with students who then participated in
two days of leadership building activities led by P&Gs
top brand managers. Four students subsequently accepted P&G
internships for
the summer.
A new synergy is emanating from
Schoenbaum Hall, where Fisher Colleges undergraduate students
now take all but one or two of their business classes. This sense
of community led to several new student-initiated events last
year, including the Fisher Festival that wrapped up the academic
year with fun and refreshments in the courtyard; a well-attended
Personal
Finance Bootcamp for undergraduates campus-wide, organized
by a number of student business organizations in cooperation with
other student groups on campus; and a Fisher Pride campaign that
fostered community spirit and pride in the new college facilities.
New courses in e-commerce, e-marketing
and business plan development provided timely new academic options
for undergraduate business students. Undergraduate faculty are
also using WebCT to develop technology-supported instruction materials.
John Bates, founder of BIGWORDS.com,
was the keynote speaker at the Deans Leadership Conference
2000, sponsored annually by the Pace Setters and coordinated by
undergraduate students. Richard Saunders, with Richard Saunders
International, a leadership and creativity consulting firm which
operates the Eureka Ranch
in Cincinnati, led the students on an exhilarating exploration
of Entrepreneurship in the New Economy.
The Fisher College chapter of
Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business fraternity, received the
most improved chapter award.
