More than 300 companies visit Ohio States
campus annually to interview Fisher College of Business undergraduate
and graduate students for internships, co-ops and career positions.
In surveys, recruiters from companies such as General
Mills and Goodyear
indicate that they hire Fisher students primarily because of past
employment successes and the colleges academic reputation.
Last year, they added an excellent recruiting environment
to the list.
The new Career
Services center located in Gerlach Hall houses the latest
in resume and job listing technology, as well as career information
and counseling services. Students are able to sign up for on-campus
interviews 24 hours a day, while recruiters are able to access
student resumes and post current job openings online.
The center contains ten private interview rooms
and meeting areas for recruiters to talk to job candidates, with
Internet access, phone, fax and copier, providing a virtual
office to accommodate recruiters daily business needs.
Its no wonder that each year the number of Fisher
recruiting companies grows, says Bob Grimm of Steak
n Shake. Everything you need to successfully evaluate
potential employees is right at your fingertips. Its like
I never left our corporate office. Except that the coffee is fresh
and I can catch the latest news on CNN.
Recruiters from Philip
Morris and Ford,
among others, have interviewed students via videoconferencing
that allows them to meet, screen and review resumes of job candidates.
On the flip side, video-on-demand allows students to view recruiting
videos from the office library, enabling them to better prepare
for interviews.
The new facilities also provide
a waiting area, registration and
computer room, library, large multi-purpose room, lounge and conference
room. With all this expanded space, its no surprise that
Andersen Consulting brings not one or two recruiters, but an entire
team to greet Fisher students and put them at ease before the
interview process begins.
