MLHR’s New Program Curriculum

Over the past few years, the Master of Labor and Human Resources (MLHR) program has shifted emphasis from industrial relations to human resources in order to meet the changing needs of today’s business environment. With input from an advisory council consisting of corporate leaders in the field, the program has developed a curriculum that hones critical skill sets using a business context, functional human resources expertise and a leadership and change management focus.

MLHR Highlights

  • Selection by the Society for Human Resource Management as a pilot study school for national registry of the LHR graduate programs.

  • A grant from the AT&T Foundation to study management practices in virtual organizations, and funding from the Kauffman Foundation to study practices in small- and medium-sized enterprises. MLHR students will help collect and analyze the data.

  • A summer practicum for MLHR students at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland to study practices in small- and medium-sized enterprises.

Master of Accounting Program

Making its way through university and State of Ohio approval processes is a proposal to establish a Master of Accounting (MAcc) degree program. The program reflects the changing nature of the field of accounting, specifically the need for accountants in the new economy to have a broader and deeper education. This one-year, 45-credit hour program enables students to develop skills in information systems technology and other business fields, as well as strengthen their understanding of accounting. The program curriculum will allow students to meet Ohio’s new CPA licensing requirements, which begin in the year 2000.
