Jesse J. Tyson

Jesse J. Tyson is a native of Jackson, Tennessee. He earned a BS Degree in Economics with honors from Lane College in 1974 and an MBA in Marketing from The Ohio State University in 1976. In 1974, he also participated in an Economic Internship with the U.S. State Department studying, in Senegal, the economic impact of the drought in West Africa.

He has been employed by ExxonMobil for more than 30 years. He has extensive experience in the Logistics, Order-To-Cash and Marketing segments of the energy business. He started in sales in Exxon Company USA in Akron, Ohio, and held various analyst and operations positions in Houston.

Between 1981 and 1987, he served in a variety of U.S. sales management positions. In 1988, he became a Distribution manager followed by assignments as the Fuels Marketing Financial & Business Analysis Manager and Wholesale Brand Support Manager. He was appointed distribution coordinator for Exxon Company International in 1995, with responsibilities for Europe, Asia and Latin America, while based in Florham Park, N.J.

Mr. Tyson was selected for the transition team during the merger of Exxon and Mobil in 1999, and was appointed Global Customer Service Manager after the merger with functional responsibilities for distribution operations, road transportation and order-to-cash management. In November 2002, he was appointed Americas South Fuels Marketing Director and President of ExxonMobil Inter-America Incorporated and was based in Coral Gables, Fla.

In that capacity, he was responsible for ExxonMobil's Fuels Marketing Retail business in the Caribbean, Central America, Andean Region and South America. In November 2008, he was appointed Global Aviation Director, based in Brussels, Belgium. In his current capacity, he has responsibility for the Global Aviation Business covering more than 50 countries, over 500 locations and more than 700 employees.

Mr. Tyson is a member of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity and the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and is actively involved in community service. He is a past Board Member of The Ensemble Theatre (1991-1995) and Children Museum of Houston (1993-1995). He has been honored as one of the "Twelve Good Men" by the Ronald McDonald House (2005), a recipient of the NAACP Achievement Award (2001), Jack & Jill Father of the Year (2001 & 2004), Presidential Citation from the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education (1988), UNCF Alum of the Year (2004), The 2007 Fisher College of Business International Alumni Award at The Ohio State University, and Treasurer of the Jack & Jill Foundation (1999-2006).

He is a lifetime member of the National Black MBA Association, and a member of the Executive Leadership Council. He is an honorary member of the 100 Black Men of America. He also serves on the Dean's Executive Advisory Board at Florida International University. He is on the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Management Education in Central America (FMECA) (2003-Present).

Further, he heads the Energy Business Team and is a Trustee of the Caribbean Latin American Action. Mr. Tyson has attended The Brookings Institute (2000) and The International Management Development School in Switzerland (1998).

Mr. Tyson is married to Cheryl Tyson and they have three daughters, Tamika, Cormisha and Christina, and one grandson, Christopher.
