James Allen
James Allen has devoted his entire working career to Hilliard Lyons after joining the firm in 1981. Jim has broad experience in the organization where he has managed taxable fixed income, the private client group and Hilliard Lyons Asset Management. After being named president of Hilliard Lyons in 2003, Jim was elected Chairman and CEO of the company effective January 1, 2004.
Jim has been active with the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association where he recently completed a three year term on the board of directors. He has spent five years on the SIA (now SIFMA) Private Client Services Committee and he served as the committee co-chair. He is on the SIFMA Regional Firms Committee and also serves on the CEO Group A Roundtable of regional firms.
Jim is involved in Louisville, Kentucky where he is the current Board Chairman of the YMCA of Greater Louisville. He is also a trustee of the Louisville Collegiate School, a member of the Jefferson County Public Education Foundation Board, the Board of Overseers at the University of Louisville, the Fund for the Arts Board and the Downtown Development Corporation Board.
Jim received a B.A. in Economics from DePauw University and an MBA in Finance from Ohio State University. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Jim is married with one daughter.
