Dean's Advisory Council: Donald B. Shackelford

Don Shackelford is the retired chair of Fifth Third Bank, Central Ohio. Prior to that, he was chair of State Savings Bank for 25 years. 

During the savings and loan crisis, he served as the national chair of the thrift industry trade association during which time the organization was created as a new entity called America's Community Bankers which is now part of the American Bankers Association.

He currently serves as Chairman of Diamond Hill Investment in Columbus, Ohio. He also served as a director and chair of The Ohio State University Board of Trustees for several years and was an outside director for the Ohio State University Physicians. In addition, he has served on a number of corporate boards including Progressive Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio, Limited Brands, The Jeffrey Company, and Worthington Foods.  

Mr. Shackelford is a graduate of Denison University (BA-Economics), where he also serves as a Trustee for many years. He has an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar. He also attended The Ohio State University where he received the degree of Doctor of Business Administration (honorary).
