Dean's Advisory Council: Charles Klatskin
Charles Klatskin is the Managing Director and Chairman of the Charles Klatskin Company, the commercial real estate brokerage, development, and management firm he founded in Teterboro, N.J., in 1966.
Previously, Mr. Klatskin served as a Managing Director of Jones Lang LaSalle, since its acquisition, in November, 2007, of Klatskin Associates, the company for which he had served as Chairman and CEO. He is also the Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Forsgate Industrial Partners, which has built and owns 10 million square feet of industrial property in New Jersey.
Mr. Klatskin is a 1959 graduate of the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania where he majored in Industrial Real Estate and Economics. His early training in real estate was at Brown, Harris, Stevens in New York City. In 1962, he was the youngest member ever admitted into the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) where he has served as National Director, National District Vice President, Regional Vice President, Chairman of various committees and President of the New Jersey Chapter.
"CK" has served as a member of the Advisory Board of the George Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University and in addition to the Dean's Advisory Council at Fisher College of Business, he serves on The Ohio State University Foundation Board of Directors. At Fisher, he and his wife, Lynne, have established the Neil Klatskin Chair in Finance and Real Estate, and the Neil M. Klatskin Memorial Scholarship in Real Estate. He has also served as Past President and Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Community Center on the Palisades in Tenafly, New Jersey; Member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Home and Rehabilitation Center in Rockleigh, New Jersey; member of the Board of Directors of Temple Emanu-el in Closter, New Jersey; and has also served as Fund Raising Chairman for the United Way of Bergen County.
He has lectured on industrial and commercial real estate at the University of Pennsylvania, Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, New York University, SIOR, the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and has conducted various seminars in New York and New Jersey. In 1999 Mr. Klatskin received the Leadership Excellence Award from the Real Estate Institute of Monmouth University and in 2000 he received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Real Estate. In May 2001 Mr. Klatskin was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award from NAIOP.
