Dean's Advisory Council: Ray J. Groves

In January, 2009 Ray J. Groves became the first  Standard & Poors Ombudsman.  Mr. Groves was with EY for 37 years serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for the last 17 years until his retirement in 1994.  Mr. Groves was Chairman of Legg Mason Merchant Banking, Inc. from 1995 to 2001.  He was President, Chairman and Senior Advisor of  Marsh Inc. in 2001-2005.

Mr. Groves has served on the board of directors of more than ten SEC-registered companies, Gillette, Nabisco and EDS among them, as well as a number of private companies. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the following companies:  Boston Scientific Corporation, Colorado Physicians Insurance Company and Group Ark Insurance Holdings Limited. Mr. Groves is former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He is a former member of the Board of Governors of the American Stock Exchange and the National Association of Securities Dealers. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the New York Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

He is a member and former Chair of the Board of Directors of The Ohio State University Foundation and he is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the Fisher College of Business.  He is a former member of the Board of Overseers of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and served as the Chairman of its Center for the Study of the Service Sector.

Mr. Groves is an Advisory Director of The Metropolitan Opera Association.  He serves on the Board of Directors of  Nursing and Home Care in Connecticut.
