Dean's Advisory Council: James Allen

James Allen has devoted his entire working career to Hilliard Lyons after joining the firm in 1981.  Jim has broad experience in the organization where he has managed taxable fixed income, the private client group and Hilliard Lyons Asset Management.  After being named President of Hilliard Lyons in 2003, Jim was elected Chairman and CEO of the company effective January 1, 2004.

Jim has been active in the financial services industry and with the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, where he has served on the board of directors.  He continues to serve on the Association’s Private Client Services Committee where he served as co-chairman.  He is currently on the Regional Firms Committee.

Jim is involved civically in Louisville, KY., where he is the immediate past Board Chairman of the YMCA of Greater Louisville.  He is a current Board Chairman of the Jefferson County Public Education Foundation, a board member of the Fund for the Arts (Executive Committee), a member of the Downtown Development Corporation Board of Directors (Executive Committee), a trustee of the Louisville Collegiate School, a member of the Board of Overseers at the University of Louisville, the advisory board for the University of Louisville School of Business and the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University.

Jim received a B.A. in Economics from DePauw University and an MBA in Finance from Ohio State University.  He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).  Jim is married with one daughter.
