Biography
Professor Current teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on modeling for decision-making at the Fisher College of Business. He has also been a Visiting Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Coimbra in Portugal since 1993.
He has published over 50 articles and guest edited eight special journal issues in his areas of expertise, and was founding editor of Location Science. His articles have appeared in Decision Sciences, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Business Logistics, Naval Research Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation Research A and B, and Transportation Science among other journals. These publications have been cited over 1,100 times. He is active internationally. In addition to his association with the University of Coimbra, he has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Commission of the Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores in Portugal for 14 years, has been a guest of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on two occasions, was a member of the Executive Committee of the International Regional Science Association for 4 years, and the Executive Director of the North American Regional Science Association for 5 years. He has received numerous honors for his research and teaching including The Fisher College Pace Setters Outstanding Researcher and Undergraduate Teacher awards. One of his papers recently was reprinted in a special issue of the European Journal of Operational Research recognizing the 30 most influential articles appearing in that journal during its first 30 years of publication.
